Meet your physician
Inés Arroyo, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist who sees adults in Tampa for digestive and liver conditions. She grew up translating at doctor visits for her grandparents, and she still remembers how much gets lost when a diagnosis arrives in the wrong language.
She opened a small, bilingual practice so there is time to explain things properly: what a test result means, why a procedure is or is not needed, and what you can do at home. Every first visit ends with a written plan, in English or Spanish.

Procedures
Dr. Arroyo performs colonoscopy and upper endoscopy (EGD) at Bayline Endoscopy Center, an outpatient center about a mile north of the office.
Lower digestive tract
A thin, flexible camera looks at the lining of the colon: for colorectal cancer screening, a check after polyps, or to find the cause of bleeding or a change in bowel habits. Most polyps come out during the same exam.
What to expectUpper digestive tract
A look at the esophagus, the stomach and the start of the small intestine, often for reflux, trouble swallowing, upper belly pain or bleeding. Small tissue samples (biopsies) can be taken if needed.
What to expectProcedures
Colonoscopy and upper endoscopy are done here, about a mile north of the office. Plan on a ride home.

Insurance and payment
We are in network with Medicare and most major plans in the Tampa Bay area. Self-pay prices are posted, and procedure estimates come before anything is scheduled.
With a Medicare Advantage or HMO plan, call us before booking so we can check whether you need a referral.
No insurance, or a plan we do not take? A new-patient consultation is $240 and a follow-up is $140. You get a superbill (a detailed receipt) to send to your plan.
Before a colonoscopy or endoscopy, our team checks your benefits and walks you through what the physician, the center and anesthesia usually bill.

Choose a time online or call the office. Tell us briefly what the visit is for and how you plan to pay.
We confirm your insurance benefits, or share self-pay prices, before the visit, so there are no surprises at the front desk.
Your patient portal link arrives by text and email. Fill in your health history, in English or Spanish, whenever it suits you.
Dr. Arroyo listens first, examines you, and explains what she thinks is going on. You leave with a written plan.

We are in network with Medicare, Aetna, Cigna, Florida Blue, Humana and UnitedHealthcare. With another plan, or none, visits are self-pay, and we give you a superbill to send to your insurer.
Not with Original Medicare or most PPO plans. HMO plans and some Medicare Advantage plans need one from your primary care doctor, so call us first and we will check.
You join a secure video visit from your phone or computer through the patient portal. You need to be in Florida at the time of the visit. Some problems need an exam in person, and Dr. Arroyo will tell you if yours does.
At Bayline Endoscopy Center, 4410 Mangrove Lane, Suite 100, about a mile north of the office. You will need someone to drive you home afterward.
Most adults at average risk start at 45. You may need to start earlier, or be checked more often, if a close relative had colorectal cancer or advanced polyps, if you have inflammatory bowel disease, or if you have symptoms such as bleeding.
